• A linear combination is an expression formed by multiplying each member of a set of vectors by a scalar (number) and then adding the results together.

Linear combination of a set of vectors, $S$:

• A vector of the form ${\alpha }_1{x}^{(1)}+...+{\alpha }_m{x}^{(m)}$
  • $S=\{x^{(1)},...,x^{(m)}\}$
